Spam Filtering

Icom`s optional spam filtering system makes use of freely available blacklists of mail servers which disseminate spam/UCE/UBE email. If enabled mail addressed to you that is received from a blacklisted server will be rejected by Icom`s servers. Any mail suspected of being spam by the system will be marked as Spam in the subject Line of the E-mail. In the event that a genuine e-mail is marked as spam, an on-line system is provided with a "White and Black" List. The White list allows the user to input e-mail addresses that should never be marked as spam for their pop \ email address. The Black list allows users to input mail addresses to be always marked as spam. Once an E-mail is marked with Spam in the subject line, a simple rule in either Microsoft Outlook ™ or Microsoft ™ Outlook Express ™may be inputted to deal with the e-mails as required

Three levels of the Spam filtering service are being offered:

1. Mail Marked as "Suspected Spam" and provision of on-line "White and Black Lists.

2. All mail marked as Spam will be held by the server prior to the user downloading the mail and provision of on-line "White and Black Lists.

Customers will be able to go online to their admin area and view all mails marked as "Suspected Spam" and inspect the marked e-mail. In the event that a genuine e-mail is marked incorrectly, a forward to mail box facility is provided to download the e-mail. Mail marked as "Suspected Spam" will be held in this system for 16 days.

The Icom anti-virus solution allows all customers who have a domain hosted with Icom to benefit from protection against known computer viruses for all email coming from the Internet. Icom make no guarantee that this system will not catch all viruses nor can Icom Innovations Ltd be held accountable in any way. The On-line virus filter is provided and a free service with the Spam filtering
as a "First Level of Defense" against Virus’s. Icom Innovations Ltd strongly suggests that an Antivirus program be installed on all Computers receiving e-mail regardless of this system.

Our tests of the on-line virus system have to date shown that 99% of known viruses are being detected by our online system.
